We created this project out of necessity. The group was created by YOUTH based in Darajani located centrally Kibera, the largest slum in Kenya and even in whole Africa. The poverty and the difficult surroundings often leads young residents to drugs or crime. The founders of this initiative have been involved in crimes and even gangs but decided to assemble this group and do something positive for the development of their community. In March 2001 the group was started to REFORM the place live and the youth around us. We want to target and reform the youth physically, mentally, emotionally and economically. We are working in areas such as Sports, Cultivation, Education. Through these activities young people can achieve important steps towards self-development and SELF-HELP.

Our organization is working for formal and informal education of both men and woman all over Kibera. We help with NGO-campaigns to tackle epidemics like AIDS and most recently Covid-19. Also we are already taking preparations for the next elections in 2022 to preserve peace after it.

Cultivating Hope – Organic Farming Project

Since 20 years Youth Reform Self-Help Group aims to harmonize the youth with their environment. During the first years our Group set up the organic farming project. It was set up on a site were trucks were dumping piles of waste regularly. The pile of waste and the contaminated earth was removed and the different crops planted. While creating work trough the farming project, we are also helping to keep Kibera clean. Together with the help of Pathologists Lancet Kenya we also build a sanitary facility.

Toilets & Bathroom Project
